Octopus Energy is committed to ‘fair and transparent’ prices and to making things as simple as possible for its customers. It aims to provide great value for the long term. It offers a range of tariffs, including a green tariff with 100% renewable electricity and full carbon offsetting for gas, a tariff designed for electric vehicle drivers, and a tariff that tracks wholesale energy prices and allows customers to see their costs daily.

Tariffs

Flexible Tariff, what is a flexible tariff?

Flexible Octopus is a variable tariff, which means that the price you pay for your energy (i.e. your unit rates and standing charge) can rise and fall with wholesale energy prices. We’ll always give you at least 30 days’ notice of a change, and you can switch to a fixed tariff at any time to lock your energy prices in for 12 months.

If you’re on our flexible tariff at the moment, and would prefer the security of a fixed price, our 12 month fixed tariff is generally only a few pennies or pounds more each month. You can switch tariffs at any time – just get in touch to do so.

There are no fees for changing tariffs, and there are still no lock-ins or exit penalties if you decide to switch away from Octopus, no matter what tariff you’re on.

Fixed Tariff.

On a fixed tariff, your unit rates and standing charge won’t change for the duration of your contract

Your unit rate is the amount you pay for each unit of energy you use (measured in kilowatt hours)

Your standing charge is a daily rate, which pays for actually getting the energy from the generators all along the wires and into your home
